About Karla-Profile

With expertise in marketing, I have over 23 years of business experience working in various environments from entrepreneurial to investment and venture banking and securities to non-profit and service-based industries.  One of my greatest passions is the art of communication and my greatest successes are supporting small business owners, individuals seeking professional growth or anyone desiring change or improvement with their current situation.

I appreciate the concerted effort and support required to live a balanced life while pursuing increased performance and success. I have five years of coaching experience as a client, learner, participant, and as a practicing coach as well as 25 years of personal development from different sources. I offer a unique perspective to supporting people on their own personal and professional journeys. Personally practicing, experiencing and benefiting from the value of coaching, I continue to work with all the “coaches” in my life as I pursue new challenges and embrace change and growth.

Starting my coaching practice in the fall of 2007, I am currently earning my credential as a certified coach under mentorship and being enrolled in The Academy for Coaching Excellence in Sacramento, CA, an accredited International Coach Federation program. My educational background includes community college and university in Vancouver, British Columbia, earning a degree in business. An early passion was the hospitality industry and I completed a two year Hospitality Administration Management program at British Columbia Institute of Technology in 1991 where I was awarded an industry scholarship for outstanding performance.

I enjoy being part of organizational teams and volunteering at community events as well as supporting programs that are important to me personally and professionally. I have served as a board member for the Auburn Chamber of Commerce since 2002.

Testimonials

“I am calling to tell you how much I appreciate you and what you have done for my sister. I don’t know if you realize what an impact you’ve had on her. I am eternally grateful. Only two months ago, I was so worried about her; what a relief. The tools you gave her are just magnificent.

This woman has really turned the page and couldn’t have done it without you. She was pretty much despondent and now, there she is, a new person…her attitude is better and her self-esteem is huge. She is loving her work, being productive, and just this morning, she was up and out early walking with friends. It is a huge shift…Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

It is thanks to you that I was able to sit down tonight and pull together the many pieces that I have been working on since we started working together. I have stayed on track, at times inspired, and others just pushing through, and by doing that have developed a very clear vision of what I want to accomplish and feel very focused.
Thanks for all your support!

After fourteen years with the same company, I was laid off. Panic and anxiety had set in. I had the good fortune to be referred to Karla. She immediately put my troubles in perspective. She gave me guidance and a plan and held me to it. Her coaching skills and years of experience as an employer guided me in a job search. As the industry I was working in is being hard hit due to the slow economy, she helped me explore other options. She gave me the courage to investigate a new line of work, something I had always wanted to try. I start this week at my new job. I am now more confident and certainly more hopeful. My favorite "ah-ha" moment with Karla was when I was feeling stuck and she shared a quote “you can always just start where you are!” I could all of a sudden focus on what the next productive step might be; just look at the next half hour in front of me! She never pushed, just made you aware that when you find yourself with a free half hour, do something useful with it. She has brought me a new awareness of how to use time. I am extremely grateful and honored to recommend her to others. My life is so much better for having worked with her.
