About Karla, ACC
Certified Coach

I have 24 years of business experience including building and selling my own business from 2001-2008, being co-founder of a start-up NASDAQ company in Vancouver, BC and running a high profile networking seminar in venture capitalism in New York, NY.

I became involved in coaching in 2005 to support my own goals and have since been studying and volunteering and began my own practice in 2007. I strive to support individuals and businesses on their journeys; seeking professional growth, setting and achieving goals, facing change or transition and improving current life situations. I offer a unique perspective and appreciate the concerted effort and support required to live a balanced life as we pursue adventures, set and achieve goals, and improve performance and results.

My educational background includes a bachelor's degree in business with a major in marketing and a certification in hospitality and tourism where I was awarded a scholarship, "Industry Award of Excellence for Professionalism". I am currently earning my ICF certification through the Academy for Coaching Excellence in Sacramento, CA.

Other professional interests include volunteering and being on organizational teams for community and non-profit programs. I served on the Auburn Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors from 2002-2008 and was presented the "Rising Star Award" in 2004: "The brightest stars are those that shine for the benefit of others. A positive attitude causes a chain reaction of positive thoughts, events, and outcomes."

Personal passions include my relationships, travel, health and wellness, and outdoor activities. Taking up skydiving in 1996, I am an avid parachute enthusiast and have traveled to many US locations to participate in events and pursue new challenges. I currently support and co-own my husband's international parachute gear manufacturing business, www.asylumbase.com.

Testimonials

“I am calling to tell you how much I appreciate you and what you have done for my sister. I don’t know if you realize what an impact you’ve had on her. I am eternally grateful. Only two months ago, I was so worried about her; what a relief. The tools you gave her are just magnificent.

This woman has really turned the page and couldn’t have done it without you. She was pretty much despondent and now, there she is, a new person…her attitude is better and her self-esteem is huge. She is loving her work, being productive, and just this morning, she was up and out early walking with friends. It is a huge shift…Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!”

It is thanks to you that I was able to sit down tonight and pull together the many pieces that I have been working on since we started working together. I have stayed on track, at times inspired, and others just pushing through, and by doing that have developed a very clear vision of what I want to accomplish and feel very focused.
Thanks for all your support!

After fourteen years with the same company, I was laid off. Panic and anxiety had set in. I had the good fortune to be referred to Karla. She immediately put my troubles in perspective. She gave me guidance and a plan and held me to it. Her coaching skills and years of experience as an employer guided me in a job search. As the industry I was working in is being hard hit due to the slow economy, she helped me explore other options. She gave me the courage to investigate a new line of work, something I had always wanted to try. I start this week at my new job. I am now more confident and certainly more hopeful. My favorite "ah-ha" moment with Karla was when I was feeling stuck and she shared a quote “you can always just start where you are!” I could all of a sudden focus on what the next productive step might be; just look at the next half hour in front of me! She never pushed, just made you aware that when you find yourself with a free half hour, do something useful with it. She has brought me a new awareness of how to use time. I am extremely grateful and honored to recommend her to others. My life is so much better for having worked with her.
